Scripture for the Day Oct 12th 2020: What is Righteousness?
Devotional
Micah 6:8 NASB
He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?
But even though many have NOT read the bible in its entirety, the answer is disarmingly simple. Do RIGHT, not wrong. We can do that because the Spirit of God has instilled that knowledge within us. We instinctively know when we transgress. Most people do. Those who do not are in most if not all cases oppressed by some spirit other than God's. Demon-oppressed, I call it.
Normally, our parents will teach us from early childhood: It is wrong to take the cookies from the jar, deny it, and point the finger at your little brother. It is wrong to do harm to others (self defense is the exception). But when parents and society remove God and His teachings from the life of a child, they are prone to falling to evil. Children always test the boundaries, and when not corrected, will grow more brazen, leading to potential disaster.
As they do not obey God's law, they won't obey societal law either as the toppling of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt statues in Portland terrorists prove. Demons are self-destructive beings. It's their 'hallmark'. They will not stop until held responsible. It pains me not only to see our magnificent monuments defiled by evil but that most Christians remain silent. It's Abe and Teddy today. It's Christ's statue tomorrow; it is already happening with impunity. One day, they will come after us. History bears witness. By then, it may be too late to fight back.
Pray today for the enemy's projects to fail, for God to show His power, and for our courage to do what's right in the face of evil. We owe it to God, and we owe it to our children and grandchildren to teach and do right.
May Jesus bless you and your family.
