Scripture for the Day Oct 9th 2020: The Tongue
James 3:6 NASB

When I wrote the original version of the devotional this morning, I accidentally pressed the back-button, and my entire writeup (about 30 mins worth of work) vanished. Frustration rose in me, and I wanted to cuss and swear. The words were on my tongue. But I swallowed the anger and the rotten words. No, not this time, Satan! In reflection, I believe I went off message a bit in my writing and God wanted me to keep it to the point. Here it is...
Democrats show their heart by the evil they spew every day, Matthew 15:18. The death wishes against President Trump reflect their souls, and the Holy Spirit grieves and withdraws. Let this not happen to you. Do not sink to their level, no matter what, but rise above it at all times!
Yes, we are to tell uncomfortable truth to our friends, but we do so with tough love and compassion. It takes courage. But it is better to receive a slap from a friend than kisses from the enemy, Proverbs 27:6. As for standing up to the lies of the evil one, do not fear. There is a straightforward solution, too. We will address this matter in tomorrow's devotional.
Today, pray that the Holy Spirit tames your tongue, so that the Spirit of God does not turn away in disgust. Ask, and God shall grant your wish!
May Jesus bless you richly!
